Happiness is Only Temporary | Spotlight Saturday [12]

NEW-SPOTLIGHT

Hey guys!

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner, dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

So now that you guys know what it’s all about, how about you join in the fun and hop on over to Josie’s Book Corner and check out how to do so~

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOGGER

This week I want to spotlight a new friend I have made here in the book blogging community. It is Sara from Freadom Library.

Sara is an avid reader of the YA genre like myself and I have found that we have many things in common. Well except one that has come to light very recently. -coughJacobBlackcough-

But I will let that one slide under the rug… Anyway, she has a great blog with well written reviews, fun tags and memes and other interesting posts! She is always one of the first bloggers to comment on my stuff and I always enjoy having mini conversations with her.

So please head on over to her blog and show her some love!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOG-POST

This week I’m bringing you a very interesting discussion post from CW @ Read, Think, Ponder

Let’s Talk About: Male Love Interests – Where’s the Diversity?

In her post she talks about how the majority of male love interest all look the same except for some different colored hair. By this, she means they are lean but not too skinny, they are toned, but not too muscular, smooth, pretty light colored eyes, perfect lips and hair etc.

You get the point right? Well head on over to her post and check out what she has to say about it!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BOOK

Continuing on my re-read of the Falling Kingdoms Series, I am now on book 2!

Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes

Rebel Spring

The road to power… is paved with blood and magic.

Cleo is now a prisoner in her own palace, forced to be an ambassador for Mytica as the evil King Gaius lies to her people.
Magnus stands to eventually inherit the new kingdom but is still obsessed with his feelings for his adopted sister, Lucia.
Lucia is haunted by the outcome of the breathtaking display of magic that allowed her father to capture the kingdoms.
Jonas watched at the palace gates a troop of rebels behind him, waiting for him to tell them how he plans to overtake King Gaius.

After a bloody siege, Auranos has been defeated, its young queen orphaned and dethroned. The three kingdoms—Auranos, Limeros, and Paelsia—are now unwillingly united as one country called Mytica. But the allure of ancient, dangerous magic beckons still, and with it the chance to rule not just Mytica, but the whole world over…

At the heart of the fray are four brave young people grappling for that magic and the power it promises. For Cleo, the magic would enable her to reclaim her royal seat. In Jonas’s hands, it frees his nation, and in Lucia’s, it fulfills the ancient prophecy of her destiny. And if the magic were Magnus’s, he would finally prove his worth in the eyes of his cruel and scheming father, King Gaius, who rules Mytica with a punishing hand.

When Gaius begins to build a road into the Forbidden Mountains to physically link all of Mytica, he sparks a long-smoking fire in the hearts of the people that will forever change the face of this land. For Gaius’s road is paved with blood, and its construction will have cosmic consequences.

Here’s hoping I finish this one soon and get to move on to book three ASAP!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-MOMENT

This is the worst week in term of holiday shopping. Most of you in North America will know it’s because of Black Friday. The “one day” a year where everything is on sale before Christmas. (I put one day in quotes because its more like Black Weekend instead).

Now here in Canada it is not as crazy as it is in the States. (Search Black Friday videos on YouTube and see how crazy it gets). But none the less it is still ridiculously busy. Especially when you’re working a 9 hour shift in a shoe store that only has two registers. The lines are crazy. The people are crazier.

Now if I hear another person complain about anything or ask a stupid question, I will have to punch them in the face. “Yes, we only have two registers. No we can’t call the manager up right now. No you can not use your coupons. Yes you can return them, read the damn receipt.”

Time for day two. Please shoot me.

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-SONG

I have two exciting releases to share with you this week. 9Muses has released their sixth EP titled Lost. It’s a pretty solid release with a couple songs that stand out to me! Madtown released their 1st Digital Single titled OMGT (Oh My Gosh Thanks). It’s such an addictive track!

Nine Muses Lost

9Muses – Sleepless Nights

I’ve liked 9Muses since their debut 5 years ago. I feel like they are always growing and improving with each new release. My only wish for them to is get more recognition for it. Sleepless Nights is poptronic track with piano influence. Smooth vocals, seductive dancing, and perfect visuals, this song is a 5/5!

Watch the Music Video HERE

Madtown OMGT

Madtown – OMGT

The boys are back! This boy group has a good mix of singers, dancers, and rappers. So it’s no surprise that they have another solid release for my ears to enjoy. Its a hip hop inspired track with hard hitting beats and saxophones breaks. Another 5/5!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-QUOTE

Lastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!

“Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand. Without them, any happiness is only temporary, because there’s nothing to make it last” – Nicholas Sparks via Books Here@ReadingBookPost

Well there ya have it guys! My twelfth Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!

We Are Afraid to Care too Much| Spotlight Saturday [11]

NEW-SPOTLIGHTHey guys!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOGGERThis week is going to be a little different. Usually I spotlight one blogger, but today we get a two for one deal with Lashaan and Trang from Bookidote!

They are the cute little co-blogging couple that bring a lot to the blogging table. Because they have varying reading tastes, we get a wide variety of genres in their reviews and such. It is also fun to see both their personalities in their writing. It makes for a more refreshing reading experience.

So if you want to meet this awesome couple, then head on over to their blog RIGHT NOW!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOG-POSTThis week I want to spotlight a very relatable discussion post from Jess @ Princessicaofbooks.

What Makes Me Read a Book?

In this discussion she lists 7 different factors that effect her decision to read a book. For example she lists the cover, the hype, and the synopsis as factors. After reading her post I can say that I do every single one of them.

Covers are definitely a book factor for me. I HATE cover models, especially if you can see their face. I think it looks awkward and at times horrendous to look at. The hype is also a major factor. But not in the way you might think… Hype actually turns me off of some books, or at least makes me push them back quite a bit. (ie. An Ember in the Ashes is still sitting on my shelf unread) And lastly the synopsis will make or a break a book for me. The cover draws me in, but the synopsis is what makes me want to read the book.

So definitely go check out her post and see what else she listed!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BOOKI’m doing some re-reads this month, as you may already know if you read my November TBR post. So this week I am starting from the very beginning of my favorite series Falling Kingdoms! All of this is in preparation for the 4th book Frozen Tides coming out in December. I’m so excited I can’t control it.

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

Falling Kingdoms

In the three kingdoms of Mytica, magic has long been forgotten. And while hard-won peace has reigned for centuries, a deadly unrest now simmers below the surface.

As the rulers of each kingdom grapple for power, the lives of their subjects are brutally transformed… and four key players, royals and rebels alike, find their fates forever intertwined. Cleo, Jonas, Lucia, and Magnus are caught in a dizzying world of treacherous betrayals, shocking murders, secret alliances, and even unforeseen love.

The only outcome that’s certain is that kingdoms will fall. Who will emerge triumphant when all they know has collapsed?

It’s the eve of war…. Choose your side.

Princess: Raised in pampered luxury, Cleo must now embark on a rough and treacherous journey into enemy territory in search of magic long thought extinct.

Rebel: Jonas, enraged at injustice, lashes out against the forces of oppression that have kept his country cruelly impoverished. To his shock, he finds himself the leader of a people’s revolution centuries in the making.

Sorceress: Lucia, adopted at birth into the royal family, discovers the truth about her past—and the supernatural legacy she is destined to wield.

Heir: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, firstborn son Magnus begins to realise that the heart can be more lethal than the sword….

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-MOMENTGuys, my life is so boring and mundane that I really don’t have anything to share with you this week. All I did this week was work, read, and watch TV. Have you fallen asleep yet?

Hopefully next week I will pick myself up and do something fun. I do have a date tonight though. So if all goes well then maybe you will hear about it next Saturday!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-APPI am bring you guys another fun and addictive game that you are sure going to love to hate. Every once and a while I go on the hunt for a new game that will take up all my free time because sometimes life can get too mundane and typical. And games are a good way to distract myself and put a little spice in my rather boring life.

Cannon Land

icon175x175

Cannon Land is all about simple but very addictive one touch gameplay that rewards focus and timing, all with super cute art.

– Super Cute Pet Bullets need you to get as far as possible in a challenge of timing, skill and discovery
– Shoot the Bullets from one cannon to another as you get coins to unlock new Bullets and levels
– How far can you make it? Focus and FIRE with simple one touch controls!
– Unlock new types of Cannons and 6 secret game levels including wizard and vintage modes
– Oh… and there are lots of adorable Pet Bullets, more than 33 to collect and play with
– Beat your own high score, climb up the world leaderboards and beat 19 achievements
– A game for all ages from 7 to 77, made for the all family to enjoy
– Play as a Wizard, Princess, Koala… use a fish cannon, a peace & love one… tons of fun combinations to unlock and collect

Inspired by Nintendo’s classic Donkey Kong country barrels mini game.

Why are the pets being shot out of cannons? Because they want to go as far as possible without getting wet in a land invaded by water. This is the only game where you get to do that, it won’t change the world but it might help make it more fun for some for a few moments.

So go out and download this game if your an Android user. I’m not sure if it can be found in the Apple Store.

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-SONGAs many of you guys know, I am a big fan of bands/groups of singers. So it comes as no surprise that this week I want to spotlight Little Mix as they just released their 3rd album, Get Weird. This album holds many great songs for everyone to enjoy and as much as I want to spotlight them all, I only chose two that stood out to me the most.

Litte Mix Get WeirdLittle Mix – Lightning

This is a great rhythmic pop track with mysterious and eerie sounds with fun lyrics and great vocals. It tells a story about falling in love again with someone and how it feels like getting struck by lightning to the heart.

Litte Mix Get WeirdLittle Mix – Secret Love Song

This song would have to be my favorite off the album. Its a nice pop ballad and the girls killed it with their stellar vocals. It tells a story about being in love with someone but not being able to show the world because they are with someone else. No matter how hard you want to scream your love from the rooftops, all you have is the secret love song.

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-QUOTELastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!

“We are afraid to care too much, for fear that the other person does not care at all” – Eleanor Roosevelt via Books Here @ReadingBookPost

It’s hard to open up your heart to others. No one wants to get heartbroken, or feel like their feelings were for nothing. Nowadays you are most likely going to find people closed off to emotions then not.

Well there ya have it guys! My eleventh Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!

Until next time,

Inspiration | Spotlight Saturday [10]

NEW-SPOTLIGHTHey guys!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOGGERThis week I want to spotlight a blogger who I have been following and talking with for quite some time now. It is none other than Anjie from Love Thy Shelf.

I absolutely love her blog. From the way it looks, to the reviews, to the tags and memes. She is one of the bloggers I trust with her recommendations and reviews. She is always there to comment on your posts and have discussions with you which I find very important! We also have very similar tastes in books and other non book related things as well. Such as Sailor Moon costumes!

So if you want a new blog to follow then I highly recommend choosing hers. You won’t regret it, I swear!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOG-POSTThis week I had the opportunity to read a blog post that I felt really heated about. It comes from Joey @anotherafterthought.

[Think Aloud] – #23 – Supporting Characters Are Protagonists Too

I felt really strongly about this topic for a couple reasons. One of them being my love for supporting characters. In some books I tend to like the supporting characters more then I like the main protagonist (ex. Throne of Glass Nehemia over Celaena). I felt like Nehemia was a much stronger character with real motives that mattered. I also felt like she should have been the main character over Celaena as her story line would have been much more compelling and interesting to read. (It isn’t until books 3 and 4 that Celaena starts to grow on me. Or should I say Aelin).

My second reason being that I don’t think supporting characters should be willing to die to drive forward the main protagonist’s story. If you’ve read the Throne of Glass series then you know who I’m hinting at (if not we can talk in the comments). If the sole purpose of a character dying is to advance the main protagonist’s story then that is truly sad.

Like Joey says in his post, Harry Potter would be nothing without the supporting characters. I stand behind that 100%. So go check out his post and let him know how you feel about it too!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BOOKGuys! I finally finished my last book and have moved onto something brand new! *pats-self-on-back*

Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo

Ruin and Rising

The capital has fallen.

The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.

I must finish this book ASAP. I have a buddy read coming up for Six of Crows!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-MOMENTSo a bitter sweet event happened to me this week. My lovely iPhone 4s died for good this week. This phone has been by my side for the past 4 years and has served a great purpose for me. Now if we could all bow our heads and have a moment of silence please.

RIP

iPhone 4s

Oct 2011 – Oct 2015

On a happier note, I finally had the excuse to get upgraded into 2015 with a brand new phone! I browsed a bunch of sites and videos online looking for the best phone to go with. After long deliberation I decided to switch ships and jump from Apple to Samsung. Now with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge I couldn’t be happier. *cheersandclaps*

It’s going to take some getting used to, but I think I will get the hang of it soon. Wish me luck!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-APPThe APP I’m bringing you this week is one of my favorite apps to shop with. They have such amazing deals on clothes, electronic accessories and shoes! Mind you, none of it is name brand, but at those prices you can’t go wrong.

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-SONGOne of my favorite KPOP girl groups came back this week with their 4th Album – 4 Walls. It is none other than f(x). This is their first comeback as a 4 member group after Sulli left earlier this year and I can say that they are stronger then ever as a quartet!

f(x) 4 walls coverf(x) – 4 Walls

4 Walls is the title track of their album and is one of my favorites off the album. 4 Walls sees the group continuing to stand out with unique experimental concepts and electronic music. Classified under deep house the title track is extremely addictive with the instrumental and vocals.

Watch the Music Video HERE

f(x) 4 walls coverf(x) – Rude Love

Rude Love is another one of my favorites off the album. With an addictive piano melody with synth pop mixes, Rude Love is a stand out on the album. As soon as the chorus comes I just want to get up and dance. Instrumentals, vocals, and lyrics were all on point for this song!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-QUOTELastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!

“All the effort in the world won’t matter if you’re not inspired” – Chuck Palahniuk via Books Here @ReadingBookPost

This quote speaks volumes to many aspects in our lives. Whether it be with our writing, reading, or even in our lives outside the blogging community, inspiration brings out the best of ourselves.

Well there ya have it guys! My tenth Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!

Shattered Dreams | Spotlight Saturday [9]

NEW-SPOTLIGHTHey guys!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOGGERSo I can’t believe I have not spotlighted this person individually yet. (I even went back to all my other Spotlight Saturdays to make sure).

It’s none other then Aentee from Read at Midnight! Yes I have spotlighted her blog posts many times in the past, but I have never spotlighted her as an individual blogger. Shame on me!

Although I probably don’t need to, because you guys are already following her blog, she still deserves to get spotlighted! She was one of the first bloggers I came in contact with after re-opening my blog on WordPress and we became fast friends. She taught me a lot about graphics and I use her blog as inspiration for my own.

She writes great reviews, fantastic discussion posts, and is always one of the first people to comment on my blog posts! So go show her blog some more love. RIGHT NOW!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BLOG-POSTThis week I want to spotlight this cool series of posts a bunch of bloggers are doing through the months of October and November! Its for the Hogwarts School of Bookcraft and Bloggery.

The first post comes from Aila over @One Way or an Author. Her topic was: Transfiguartion, Books That Changed Your Life and Tips to Transform your Blog.

If you want some great tips on ways to spruce up your blog with content and visuals then this is the post for you! You get tips from 10 different bloggers as well as their recommendations for the books that changed their lives.

Your Hogwarts letter has finally arrived, so go have some fun! I can’t wait to see what the other bloggers are going to come up with!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-BOOKSadly there is no book to spotlight this week as I am still reading The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima.

I’m a slow reader ok? Don’t judge…

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-MOMENTI woke up Saturday morning with a text from my closest friends inviting me to do a day road trip with them to Algonquin Park here in Ontario on Sunday. It sounded like fun so I said sure!

So if you follow me on Twitter (which you should by the way @BooksatDawn) then you know what happened. We were supposed to leave at 7am and I was up and ready for that. Sadly though, the driver was not. We didn’t end up leaving until 10am. Setting us back 3 hours.

But alas, we were on the road and making the best of a sour situation. It took us 4 hours to get there (because our front seat navigator got us lost) but we finally got there. Let me tell you how beautiful this park is in the fall time. All the trees were colors of red, orange, yellow, and there was light snow falling all around us. The trails were amazing and we took some great pictures! All in all I had fun and would definitely go back there next year!

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-APPThis week I want to spotlight an APP that has to do with something that’s very popular nowadays. It’s none other than Adult Coloring Books!

Colorfy

Colorfy App

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-SONGLast week one of my favorite artists Demi Lovato, released her latest album, Confident. Let me tell you how awesome EVERY single song is on that album. By far my favorite from her and I wish I could spotlight all the songs. But I have picked 2 that I love.

Demi Lovato ConfidantDemi Lovato ft. Iggy Azalea – Kingdom Come

This track is life! From beginning to end I loved every second. It has great lyrics, amazing vocals, and a cool rap verse as well. But the instrumental is my favorite part of the song. It really sets the tone of the song. And then the chorus comes and Demi rocks those high notes with her unique vocal tone!

Demi Lovato ConfidantDemi Lovato ft. Sirah – Waitin On You

This song is amazing. The lyrics really hit you if you’ve ever been bullied, or trash talked behind your back. It exudes confidence and tells you to stand up for yourself and to not let others take advantage of you. Demi rocks the vocals and Sirah kills it with an amazing rap.

NEW-SPOTLIGHT-QUOTELastly I bring you another quote from Instagram this week!

“It can take years to mold a dream. It takes only a fraction of a second for it to be shattered.” – Stacy @book_junkee

Stay true to your heart and don’t let anyone convince you that your dreams are worthless and are too big. Whether it’s your parents, friends, teachers, or strangers. Your dreams are YOURS, not theirs.

Well there ya have it guys! My ninth Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!

Until next time,

BIG FREAKING BANG BAE BAE | Spotlight Saturday [8]

Spotlight SaturdayHey guys!

Spotlight BloggerThis week I want to spotlight a blogger who I have come to know and admire. It is none other then Ashley from The Socially Awkward Bookworm.

She is always reading and commenting on my blog posts and showing me the love. So this is me giving back. I love her blog. It is so simple and pretty! She has great content as well. I love her tags and memes because we have very similar tastes and opinions. Plus her reviews are always on point and one of the few people I turn to for good books to read next.

So go check out her blog and show some love! You can never give too much of that!

Spotlight Blog PostThis week I have two blog posts I want to spotlight because they were just too good to just choose one! We’ll start off with The Best Writing Advice Anyone’s Ever Given Me by Breeanna Pierce @Breeannapierce.

In her post she talks about writing the story you want to read. I think this is such great advice because it will keep you interested and in love with what you are writing. Don’t write something that will please others, write something that will please you. Because there will be at least one other person in the world that would love to read it too. If you want to go more in depth with the topic, head on over to her post and check it out!

Secondly I want to spotlight a very important topic going around right now in the book world: Diversity in YA Books by Josie @Josie’s Book Corner

Why do I think this is such an important topic? Because EVERYONE in this world needs to be able to relate to characters in one way or another. Whether it is ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, or any sort of physical/mental disability. I don’t know about you, but I am tired of reading books about the blonde hair blue eyed white hero/heroine/protagonist and their perfect band of perfect white friends. Like I said in my comment on the post. Instead of the perfect white assassin, how about we get a story on the her black warrior princess best friend. Just something to think about. If you want to join the discussion, head on over to her post!

Spotlight BookI have finally moved on to new books. It took me a while to read my last one that I never thought I would finish it. But here I am reading a new book and it is none other then:

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

Siege and Storm

Darkness never dies.

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her–or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

Let’s hope I can finish this one quickly as I am falling behind in my reading schedule!

Spotlight MomentGuys. My dreams came true this week! I went to my first KPOP concert and it was for one of my favorite boy groups of ALL TIME: Big Bang!

It was such an amazing concert. They played all their new songs from their forth coming album yet to be released, M.A.D.E. The light show was amazing, the pyrotechnics was amazing, the vocals was amazing, the band was amazing, the visuals were amazing, the outfits were amazing, the dancers were amazing, and of course my boys were amazing. I’m thinking your catching on that this concert was … AMAZING. Although I was up in the nose bleeders because I’m so poor T___T I still was able to have the best time with my friends. Let’s just say I didn’t have a voice afterwards from all the fanboying and singing I did.

After the show ended they came back to do an encore of two songs, BUT they didn’t want to leave just yet so they started playing songs that they had already sung earlier. They were adorable and their English was amazing! I loved every moment from the concert and if I ever get the opportunity again, I want to see them in the future!

Ok, the fanboy in me is now satisfied. Thank you for bearing through that. You may move on now!

Spotlight AppThis week I want to spotlight an app I’m sure most of you Instagram lovers already know about. It is where I get most of my Sunday pictures for my blog. It is none other then:

Spotlight SongThis week I’m bringing you guys two brand new releases for my spotlighted song, and it is none other than AOA with their 1st Japanese album, Oh Boy, and Selena Gomez with her 2nd solo album, Revival.

AOA Oh BoyAOA – Oh Boy

With the release of their last three Japanese singles, AOA is back with their first Japanese Album. Leading with the single Oh Boy, we get a fast upbeat song with amazing vocals and an addictive hook. The visuals and choreography are also on point with the concept of the song. Very AOA style.

Selena Gomez RevivalSelena Gomez – Kill em With Kindness

Selena Gomez just released her 2nd solo album this week after releasing two singles, Good for You and Same Old Love. But their is one song in particular I want to spotlight, and it’s none other then Kill em With Kindness. This song has such a good message and a motto that I try to live by in life. With great instrumentals and vocals, Selena really knocks it out of the park with this one.

Spotlight QuoteLastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!

“Don’t choose someone if they have to think twice about choosing you.” – Books Here@ReadingBookPost

Just because things feel good, just because you don’t want to change things, don’t be with someone who can’t give them 100% of themselves to you. You deserve better then that. Always remember that!

Well there ya have it guys! My eighth Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!

Until next time,

There’s a Fine Line Between Genius and Insanity | Spotlight Saturday [7]

Spotlight SaturdayHey guys!

Spotlight BloggerThis week I want to take the opportunity to spotlight a wonderful blogger and writer that I have had a pleasure of talking to for a little while now. It is none other than Nicolette from A Little Bookish, A Little Writerly.

She has become one of my favorite bloggers to chat with and read her lovely posts. She is very talented and has a very pretty blog! We have very similar reading tastes and I enjoy reading her reviews and other bookish related tags and memes. She is always one of the first people to read my posts and always posts her thoughts and I love that. I hope both of us can continue to grow as bloggers and writers and I wish her all the luck in the world with her writing journey right now.

If you have not checked her out, please do so now. She deserves the spotlight this week and you guys should go see why!

Spotlight Blog PostThis week is no surprise that I want to spotlight another one of Aentee’s discussion posts. I feel like every other week I’m spotlighting them because they are just the best ones I come across. This week she discusses blogger insecurities in her post: 4 Common Book Blogger Insecurities (And Why They Don’t Matter!)

I feel like as book bloggers there is always something to be insecure about it. No one is perfect and therefore everyone shares the same feelings deep down. But we need to look past them and stop being envious of others and work on ourselves. The most important aspect is our own enjoyment, and with time everything else will improve along the way.

Aentee talks about about not getting ARC’s, reviews not containing enough criticism and other very important topics and why they shouldn’t matter. So go on over to her post and check them out! It enlightened me, and I’m sure it will do the same for you as well.

Spotlight BookI have traveled back in time a few years and have started reading a new series that has been on my TBR shelf for the longest time. And boy was I ever lame for putting it off for this long. I am loving it so far.

The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima

The Demon King

Times are hard in the mountain city of Fellsmarch. Reformed thief Han Alister will do almost anything to eke out a living for his family. The only thing of value he has is something he can’t sell—the thick silver cuffs he’s worn since birth. They’re clearly magicked—as he grows, they grow, and he’s never been able to get them off.

One day, Han and his clan friend, Dancer, confront three young wizards setting fire to the sacred mountain of Hanalea. Han takes an amulet from Micah Bayar, son of the High Wizard, to keep him from using it against them. Soon Han learns that the amulet has an evil history—it once belonged to the Demon King, the wizard who nearly destroyed the world a millennium ago. With a magical piece that powerful at stake, Han knows that the Bayars will stop at nothing to get it back.

Meanwhile, Raisa ana‘Marianna, princess heir of the Fells, has her own battles to fight. She’s just returned to court after three years of freedom in the mountains—riding, hunting, and working the famous clan markets. Raisa wants to be more than an ornament in a glittering cage. She aspires to be like Hanalea—the legendary warrior queen who killed the Demon King and saved the world. But her mother has other plans for her…

The Seven Realms tremble when the lives of Hans and Raisa collide, fanning the flames of the smoldering war between clans and wizards.

If you guys haven’t check out The Seven Realms series yet, then get on it. You won’t be disappointed.

Spotlight MomentI am still reeling from the big move I just had last week. This being my first full week back I’ve had a lot to do and get straightened out. But it also the week I’ve started at my new store.

Even thought it is part of the same company, there were a few things to get used to systematically. But the biggest hurdle to overcome is how to fit in with my new team. Being the new guy is never easy. Especially not when the others have already established friendships among themselves. I have to just be real and be me and hopefully I will fully integrate myself in and continue to have fun. Time to get my talking game on and start getting to know my new teammates!

I’ll let you guys know how that goes!

Spotlight SongThis week I’m bringing you two songs that I have had on repeat since they’ve been released over the past couple weeks. And to switch things up a little bit, one is ENGLISH while the other is KOREAN (as usual).

Demi Lovato ConfidantDemi Lovato – Confident

With her new album on the release horizon next week, she leads up to it with her new single Confident. A powerful song about obviously confidence with great instrumentals, vocals and of course a great message as well. “Bitch I run this show”

Watch the crazy kickass video HERE.

Tayeon ITaeyeon – I

The leader from my favorite girl group of all time, Girls’ Generation has finally released some solo work after being in the group for 8 years now. As she is one of the lead vocals from the group I knew I was going to be getting some amazing songs. “I” is a cool pop inspired track with amazing vocals, instrumentals and visuals. My favorite from the album!

Watch the music video HERE.

Spotlight QuoteLastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!

It Takes Two People to Make a Lie Work | Spotlight Saturday [6]

Spotlight Saturday

YES I KNOW I AM A DAY LATE. I’M SURPRISED I EVEN KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS NOW. SO BUSY.

Spotlight BloggerThis week’s blogger that I want to spotlight is Joey from Thoughts and Afterthoughts. If you guys don’t follow him then I’m shocked. Get to it right now!

He is my fellow Toronto blogger. I really enjoy reading his blog and find that his thoughts on books are very well formed where as mine are pure emotions. We have very similar book tastes and I feel like we would get a long great in real life! He produces great content along side his amazing reviews, such as his tags, memes, and general discussions about hot topics.

All around great blogger. You don’t find many male bloggers like myself, so when you do you immediately know the bro bonding is going to occur! So go check him out.

P.S. Joey, if you are reading this then know because of you I went out and purchased Zeroes. Can’t wait to start it!

Spotlight Blog PostEvery week I feel like I have been falling more and more behind on all my favorite blogger’s posts. And I will still keep blaming the big move I just had (but ultimately I’m uber lazy). But there was one post this week that has been plaguing my mind for a very long time now. It comes from one of my good blogging friends Aentee @ReadatMidnight.

Is it Possible to Measure Blogging Success?

Like I said, this plagues my mind on a daily basis. Is my blog successful? Do I produce content people want to read? What can I do to improve myself? And many other questions along those lines. I personally do not think my blog is that successful, but then again I’m usually hard on myself and can never seem to be pleased. But to what lengths do I have to go to be considered a successful blogger?

I constantly wonder if it would even make a difference to me. Isn’t this just a hobby to me and should the success of it play a big part of the enjoyment? So many questions I got answered after reading Aentee’s post and a lot of great advice as well. I am just going to keep doing what I’m doing and enjoy it while I’m at it!

Spotlight BookI swear I have been reading this book for almost two weeks now. It is enormous and I can never seem to read more than a couple chapters at a time. But I am enjoying it immensely.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Queen of Shadows

The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

I am determined to finish this book as quick as possible. I need to find out how it ends!

Spotlight MomentAs many of you guys know, I recently made a big move back home this week. And let me tell you, it was not easy to do. Crossing provinces was a big hassle. Not only was I packing and preparing for a couple weeks before the move, but I was also saying my goodbyes to the new friends and coworkers I made living in Winnipeg for the year.

But now that I am back and somewhat settled in I have a lot to catch up on. I have so many books to unpack, a room to paint, shelves to organize, things to clean, family members to see, and friends to catch up with. Let me tell you how exhausted I am right now. As you can tell I’m a day late with this post and that just speaks to how busy I have been. But it’s all been worth it. I’m back home surrounded by the people I care most for in the city I love and I couldn’t be happier!

Thanks for being patient with me and I promise to be back up and running normally as soon as possible!

Spotlight SongThis week I’m bringing you guys two brand new releases for my spotlighted song, and it is none other than GOT7 with their 4th mini album, MAD, and Lovelyz with their 1st mini album, Lovelyz8.

Got7GOT7 – If You Do

This song came out at the beginning of the week and it took a 180 turn on GOT7’s goofy boy group image. They upgraded for a more sophisticated look and sound. The song is about being frustrated with the person your with because they just don’t care what happens in the relationship. If you want to check out the song and video CLICK HERE

LovelyzLovelyz – Ah Choo

Everyone needs a little more cute in their life and only been released for a couple days this song does just that. It’s cute uptempo pop song about finding the perfect person to be with and wanting to do all these cute things for them. This is also the first comeback with all 8 members of the group performing on one stage together after one members slight controversy last year which prevented her from doing so.
