Identifying her parents was the hardest thing ever, until Kaya learned she was the killer’s next target. Moving had thrown the ancient predator off her trail temporarily but with magical abilities manifesting, Kaya’s scent grows stronger and the attempts on her life become constant. Narrowly surviving each encounter, Kaya is desperate to stop her potential assassin, but it’s hard to kill a creature that changes its appearance and disappears without a trace. Kaya finds the support she needs to succeed in her small group of friends and her boyfriend Kenneth.
Like so many things, they’re more than what they seem and with the killer having unsettling similarities to Kenneth and his family…Kaya can’t help but wonder if there’s a connection.
About the Author
Hello from Oklahoma, but I am originally from the Great Northwest, Washington State. I have been writing since I was in late elementary, early middle school. I have always had a passion for the fantasy genre and as a result I most certainly do write what I like to read. I am a traditionally published YA Author with Clean Reads. My first book Pinnacle is coming out
February 6th 2018 and it’s sequel Eximius will be out next summer. I also have various other novels and series in construction or being looked at by agents. My hope for this blog is to help other Authors who are aspiring to be published with advise and knowledge about the industry as well as to supply my readers with exclusive pre- published excerpts you will only find here!
Happy reading and remember…
Don’t just read, insert yourself into the story and experience the journey as if you were written into it!
First day jitters where getting the best of Kaya, even so, the feeling of being watch was still there and left her tense and unsettled. Taking a deep breath, she mentally yelled at herself to get on with it.
“Well it’s now or never. It’s time to climb these stairs open this door…and, yup, not a freaking clue!”
“You look lost, where are you trying to get to,” a deep voice said from behind her.
Kaya jumped clean out of her skin and it was then that she realized she’d been standing in the door way. As she glanced sheepishly at the guy who had just spoken to her a hot flush worked its way down her neck. He had an amused grin going on but was trying to hide it.
Awkwardly she said, “Ummm…” and got rewarded with a full on smile. He’s hot in a way that should be illegal and punishable by death. “I’m new here this year” she stuttered completely blindsided by his lopsided grin, “I was looking for the office?”
He laughed and said, “I can show you, it is on the way to the cafeteria. So what’s your name?”
Shy wasn’t normally Kaya’s style and coy definitely wasn’t an action her mind was familiar with, but she found herself being both when she answered him. “Kaya, but my family calls me Kay.” Oh and he has a nice laugh too, perfect, 5 minutes and I already have a crush.
“Well if your family calls you Kay then what do your friends call you?” he asked.
“I don’t have any friends yet so I couldn’t tell you…..” It was here that Kaya realized that she didn’t know his name. He already knew way too much about her and she knew nothing about him, except that his teeth where perfect. A first name would be nice. She decided it was need to know information and asked him, “What was your name again?”
“Oh sorry, it’s Kenneth, but MY family and friends call me Kenny and now you can too.”
There was that lopsided grin again and Kaya got the feeling it would materialize when he not only found what she said or did funny, but also when he was up to something. “Are you asking me to be your friend Kenny?”
“Yea, I guess I am.”, he said grin still in place.
Yup that damn smile is going to get me in trouble
He interrupted her thoughts when he said, “Well here we are. You had breakfast yet? If not I can walk you to the cafeteria and show you the does and don’ts of the morning selections.”
Breakfast actually sounded pretty good, especially if it meant sitting next to him, so Kaya said, “Yea let me just go in here and get my schedule, who knows maybe we have classes together.”
A blush broke out under his charcoal grey eyes and Kaya got butterflies in her stomach.
He likes me! At least that is what intuition told her and if there was anything she could rely on it was her gut.
