It happened again. Arianna had seen the girl with eyes that shone like silver coins and who struck her dead each night that passed, each time she closed her eyes to dream. Though she couldn’t speak the words aloud, she now knew why these nightmares occurred and what spurred them to take hold at her most vulnerable hours. It was an innate darkness inside of her trying to break free and take over.
Whether the darkness had been born the day she died or if it had always been stirring at her core, there was no denying its threat any longer. What might she become if she gave in?
After all, she now understood the dangerous lure of dark magic. She had learned the story of Vladamor.
In this bewitching sequel to Belvedor and the Four Corners, the story of Arianna Belvedor continues, and there’s more than just an evil king to fear

Belvedor and the King’s Curse by Ashleigh Bello is the sequel to The Belvedor Saga. It immediately picks up after the first book with Arianna and her friends making it out of their journey of freedom. But not all comes easy. They are wanted for high treason against the King. Now they must figure out how to stay hidden and try to live their new lives peacefully.
In this exciting installment of The Belvedor Saga, we get a huge expansion on all areas of the story. Plot, characters, world, and magic system! I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read it.
My biggest highlight overall was the writing mixed with the advancement of the plot. Ashleigh’s writing has improved tremendously which added to the vivid and beautifully written descriptions, and fantastic dialogue between characters. I could really feel the emotions Arianna and her friends were feeling and I was vastly intrigued with all the new information we received
Arianna displays monumental growth in the King’s Curse and she’s beginning to grow on me. We know her as the brave and tough fighter from the Warrior’s District in the Four Corner’s, but now we get to see her take on a more leadership role which weigh’s heavily in the back of her mind. She doesn’t want her friends to come into harms way and will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen.
I loved the history lesson we get about the magic system and the origins of it. The time and thought it must have taken Ashleigh to build this world really shows. Especially with the back stories of our adult characters like Kassime, Cyn and Solomon.
There is still so much more story to be told and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
No story can ever be perfect and that is okay.
For one, I felt like there was a lack of development with the side characters. Especially Arianna’s friends, Lessa, Jeom, and Demetrius. I was very saddened when they took a back seat to the story this time around. I was looking forward to more from them, but we got very little in that department.
On one hand I like that there is barely any romance in the King’s Curse, but on the other, it wouldn’t hurt either. I feel an added romance between characters could further help them develop into stronger characters. It also helps with getting the reader to become more emotionally attached to certain characters as well.
I highly recommend that you guys check out Belvedor and the Four Corners, the first book in The Belvedor Saga! You won’t regret it.
