Bloggers are Humans Too | Discussions at Dawn [#1]

Discussions-at-Dawn

Hey guys!

Welcome to the first Discussions at Dawn. This is where I will talk about hot button issues, book related topics, and other things I find interesting.

Bloggers are Humans Too

Recently there has been a lot of controversy floating around the book blogging community in the forms of hate comments. This all started with a review posted about a very popular book that was released this month.

In the review the blogger explains the problems that arose and why the blogger didn’t enjoy them. But what comes with an honest opinion, also comes uncalled backlash. As book bloggers we have the right to our own opinions, and that includes not liking certain books. It does not give other people the right to bash, threaten, or bully you.

We need to be united as a book blogging community. This should be a fun environment where we can share our thoughts on the books we love and the books we didn’t love. We need to realize that not everyone is going to share the same opinions, and we need to realize that it is not a personal attack when someone doesn’t like a book you do.

I stand behind bloggers rights to their own opinions as long as they do not harm, bully or belittle the author and other readers in the process. So my point to all this is that bloggers are humans too. There is someone behind that computer screen with feelings and heart. Don’t send them hate or bully them over their opinions. It’s just not right.

Together I believe that we can improve and make the book blogging community a more happier and accepting place if we leave our hurt feelings aside. If you don’t agree with someone’s opinion, move on. It’s simple.

Sorry if that was a bit of a rant. I just needed to get that off my chest. What do you think about the hate some bloggers get over their opinions? Do you agree or disagree with it? What are some ways we could improve the book blogging community?

See you next time,

Sig New
