Welcome back to another Top 5 Wednesday! This fun weekly meme was created by Lainey over at GingerReadsLainey. If you want to join in the fun and be apart of the #T5W … you can find all the details at the GoodReads page.
This week’s topic is Top 5 Books I’m Thankful For.
I know it’s been a while since I my last Top 5 Wednesday… I just didn’t connect with the last few topics. Fortunately this week I could not pass this one up. As it is almost American Thanksgiving, this week we get to talk about the 5 books we’re most thankful for. So let’s get into it.
5. The 5 Stages of Andrew Brawley by Shaun David Hutchinson
This contemporary novel is a coming of age, or rather a coming out story which centers around a boy after the tragic loss of his family. Now he lives and hides out in the hospital where his parents and little sister died in after their car accident. While observing the ER like he usually does, he meets a boy who was burned alive by some bullies for being gay. And their heart wrenching love story unfolds.
4. Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Another contemporary story about coming out. This one follows Simon who has a secret email relationship with a mystery boy who goes to his school. One day when he is in the school library, he forgets to log out of his email which jump starts the blackmail of being outed to the whole school. But Simon is not worried about being outed… he is more afraid of losing Blue (the mystery boy) before he even gets a chance to meet him. Read it to find out what happens!
3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
A recent read of mine. This fantasy novel is about a group of unlikely individuals coming together to pull off the biggest heist the Grisha world has ever seen. We see them butt heads, argue, laugh, fall in love and much more. This novel was exciting from beginning to the end and I can’t wait to see where the story heads next after that ending!
2. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
I know, I know. I haven’t even finished reading this series yet. But this list would be incomplete if it wasn’t on it. Such a classic fantasy series that I’m sure a lot of readers have fond memory of. I for one am creating some as I read them as an adult and I am loving ever second of it!
1. Falling Kingdoms Series by Morgan Rhodes
Are you guys surprised this series is my number one favorite to be thankful for? If you are, then you really don’t know me by now. This series will go down as my favorite high fantasy series EVER. And it isn’t even over yet! Book 4 comes out in a couple weeks and then we still have 2 more after that + the spin off trilogy. If you haven’t read this series yet guys, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. GO OUT AND READ IT. I WILL GIVE YOU ALL CHOCOLATES AND CANDIES IF YOU DO.
I hope you enjoyed my Top 5 Wednesday this week. Even though Canadian Thanksgiving was in October (Yes, I’m from Canada), I am still and will always be thankful for these wonderful books! What are some of yours? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
