November 2015 Wrap Up | Books at Dawn

Hey guys!

Another month has come and gone in a blink of an eye. This month has been really stressful with work and life. I’ve been having trouble finding the energy to keep up. I always seem to be tired at night to do anything but sleep nowadays.

With that being said, I’m a bit nervous to look back on this month. But let’s see how I did!

Autumn is Awesome | TAG

Hey guys!

I was tagged by Trisha Ann from The Bookgasm Blog. SO thank you my dear! Autumn is my favorite season, so I couldn’t pass this one up.

What is your favorite thing about Autumn?

The weather gets cooler. The leaves change to pretty colors. I get to start layering my clothes again with SWEATERS. (My favorite pieces of clothing) I get to drink my tea without sweating. I get to curl up with my favorite blanket and cuddle.

What is there not to love about Autumn??

What book reminds you of your school days?

The Outsiders

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton!

I’ve had to read this book so many times over the years I can’t even count anymore. It still holds the top spot in favorite school reads!

What cover reminds you of autumn?

City of Fallen Angels

Its the color scheme I guess!

What is your favorite horror or Halloween story?

I don’t really have one, as I have not read any books in the horror genre before. But I did make a promise to myself to have a butt load ready for next year’s Halloween!

What is your favorite horror or Halloween film?

Movie Scream

Hands down it’s Scream by Wes Craven! It will forever be my favorite horror movie of all time because it holds such nostalgic memories for me. Even though it may not be the scariest or the best out there, it will still remain a classic until the end of time.

What fall book release are you looking forward to?

Frozen Tides

Autumn doesn’t end until December 21 I think, so Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes still counts as a Fall release. I am counting down the days. 15 more to go until I can get my hand on this beauty!!

What autumn movie release are you anticipating?

I will admit, I don’t watch a lot of movies in theaters… So I will just go with the obvious answer of Mockingjay Part 2. (Even though I probably won’t watch it in the theaters.

What are the three books you plan to read this autumn?

As this is the tale end of the season, I won’t be tagging anyone. BUT I hope you enjoyed reading.

Until next time,

Happiness is Only Temporary | Spotlight Saturday [12]

Hey guys!

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner, dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

So now that you guys know what it’s all about, how about you join in the fun and hop on over to Josie’s Book Corner and check out how to do so~

This week I want to spotlight a new friend I have made here in the book blogging community. It is Sara from Freadom Library.

Sara is an avid reader of the YA genre like myself and I have found that we have many things in common. Well except one that has come to light very recently. -coughJacobBlackcough-

But I will let that one slide under the rug… Anyway, she has a great blog with well written reviews, fun tags and memes and other interesting posts! She is always one of the first bloggers to comment on my stuff and I always enjoy having mini conversations with her.

So please head on over to her blog and show her some love!

This week I’m bringing you a very interesting discussion post from CW @ Read, Think, Ponder

Let’s Talk About: Male Love Interests – Where’s the Diversity?

In her post she talks about how the majority of male love interest all look the same except for some different colored hair. By this, she means they are lean but not too skinny, they are toned, but not too muscular, smooth, pretty light colored eyes, perfect lips and hair etc.

You get the point right? Well head on over to her post and check out what she has to say about it!

Continuing on my re-read of the Falling Kingdoms Series, I am now on book 2!

Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes

Rebel Spring

The road to power… is paved with blood and magic.

Cleo is now a prisoner in her own palace, forced to be an ambassador for Mytica as the evil King Gaius lies to her people.
Magnus stands to eventually inherit the new kingdom but is still obsessed with his feelings for his adopted sister, Lucia.
Lucia is haunted by the outcome of the breathtaking display of magic that allowed her father to capture the kingdoms.
Jonas watched at the palace gates a troop of rebels behind him, waiting for him to tell them how he plans to overtake King Gaius.

After a bloody siege, Auranos has been defeated, its young queen orphaned and dethroned. The three kingdoms—Auranos, Limeros, and Paelsia—are now unwillingly united as one country called Mytica. But the allure of ancient, dangerous magic beckons still, and with it the chance to rule not just Mytica, but the whole world over…

At the heart of the fray are four brave young people grappling for that magic and the power it promises. For Cleo, the magic would enable her to reclaim her royal seat. In Jonas’s hands, it frees his nation, and in Lucia’s, it fulfills the ancient prophecy of her destiny. And if the magic were Magnus’s, he would finally prove his worth in the eyes of his cruel and scheming father, King Gaius, who rules Mytica with a punishing hand.

When Gaius begins to build a road into the Forbidden Mountains to physically link all of Mytica, he sparks a long-smoking fire in the hearts of the people that will forever change the face of this land. For Gaius’s road is paved with blood, and its construction will have cosmic consequences.

Here’s hoping I finish this one soon and get to move on to book three ASAP!

This is the worst week in term of holiday shopping. Most of you in North America will know it’s because of Black Friday. The “one day” a year where everything is on sale before Christmas. (I put one day in quotes because its more like Black Weekend instead).

Now here in Canada it is not as crazy as it is in the States. (Search Black Friday videos on YouTube and see how crazy it gets). But none the less it is still ridiculously busy. Especially when you’re working a 9 hour shift in a shoe store that only has two registers. The lines are crazy. The people are crazier.

Now if I hear another person complain about anything or ask a stupid question, I will have to punch them in the face. “Yes, we only have two registers. No we can’t call the manager up right now. No you can not use your coupons. Yes you can return them, read the damn receipt.”

Time for day two. Please shoot me.

Mirror Me

I have two exciting releases to share with you this week. 9Muses has released their sixth EP titled Lost. It’s a pretty solid release with a couple songs that stand out to me! Madtown released their 1st Digital Single titled OMGT (Oh My Gosh Thanks). It’s such an addictive track!

Nine Muses Lost

9Muses – Sleepless Nights

I’ve liked 9Muses since their debut 5 years ago. I feel like they are always growing and improving with each new release. My only wish for them to is get more recognition for it. Sleepless Nights is poptronic track with piano influence. Smooth vocals, seductive dancing, and perfect visuals, this song is a 5/5!

Watch the Music Video HERE

Madtown OMGT

Madtown – OMGT

The boys are back! This boy group has a good mix of singers, dancers, and rappers. So it’s no surprise that they have another solid release for my ears to enjoy. Its a hip hop inspired track with hard hitting beats and saxophones breaks. Another 5/5!

Lastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!

“Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand. Without them, any happiness is only temporary, because there’s nothing to make it last” – Nicholas Sparks via Books Here@ReadingBookPost

Well there ya have it guys! My twelfth Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!

Until next time,

Emoji’s Galore #2 | TAG

Hey guys!

I was tagged Aria from Aria Stuck in Wonderland, Enthralling Dimple, and Trisha Ann from The Bookgasm Blog to do this tag, so thank you ladies! Since I already this tag a couple months ago, I decided to do it again with a new set of emoji’s that have made it to the top of my most used list!

So the point of this tag is to choose your 5 most used emoji’s and match them up to a book that evicted that particular emotion. As I am an avid emoji user this should be a interesting and fun tag to do! So let’s get into it!

Emoji Big Grin

Queen of Shadows

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas put a big grin on my face after reading it! I thought it was the best book in the series so far. It progressed well, had a lot of great moments and important scenes. It was out with the old and in with the new. I love every minute of it!

Emoji Heart

Six of Crows

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is my new current favorite. You do not understand the love I have for this book. It exceeds it’s predecessor series the Grisha Trilogy by a long shot. It breathes new life into a world we are already familiar with. It explores new lands, new characters and new ideas! My heart grew big for this book!

Emoji Crying

All the Bright Places

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven was a roller coaster of emotions from beginning to end. And that ending had me in tears. I’m not one to really cry from a book, but this one got to me big time. I can’t say anymore to avoid spoilers… so yeah, I’ll leave it at that. Have a box of tissues ready!

Emoji Cant Look

Rat Queens Vol.2

Rat Queens Vol. 2 had me covering my eyes as I read it. The amount of nudity and sexual scenes surpassed the first volume by a long shot. Although I am no angel when it comes to those things, I’m still not used to reading them or seeing them in the books I read. I can only imagine what the third volume is going to be like!

Emoji Not Impressed

The Memory Key

The Memory Key by Liana Liu was horrible! It was quite boring and the characters were vapid. The only highlight was the unique concept. Too bad it wasn’t executed nicely. This book had me seriously side eyeing it on my shelf that I had no choice but to sell it to my local used book store. Hopefully someone else will enjoy it more than I did.

Well there you have it! My five most used emojis and the books that match with that emotion. I hope you enjoyed this tag and let me know down in the comments if you felt the same way as me. If not, tell me why!

Until next time,

No one this time! But if you want to do it, by all means do it. It’s quite fun!

Fall Time Cozy Books | TAG

Hey guys!

I was tagged by Prima over at Panda Hearts Books to do this tag. Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year and currently the one I am living through right now. As the days start to get colder, all I want to do is drink tea and cozy on up with a good book. So this tag was just to perfect for my current mood!

Crunching Leaves

The world is full of colour – Book that has a red/orange/yellow cover

HP Order of the Pheonix

This cover of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is perfect. With nice shades of red and orange with a backdrop of a setting sun it just screams cozy time!

Cozy Sweater

Book that gives you the warm fuzzies

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda

This book right here, Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda gave me the biggest fuzzies ever. It was absolutely adorable and cute and just the best coming of age/coming out story I have read in a long time. It’s a must read!

Fall Storm

Favorite book or genre for a rainy day

I usually like to spend rainy days watching movies or TV shows in bed. But if I’m going to read something, it will most likely be a mystery or thriller like, The Snow Empress. That book would be perfect for a fall storm.

Cool Crisp Air

The coolest character that you would love to trade places with

Queen of Shadows

I would choose Aelin from Queen of Shadows for a couple reasons. One would be because she is a cool assassin, two would be because she has cool magical powers, but the most important reason would have to be: so I can share a bed with Rowan… and you know… do other things with him!

Hot Apple Cider

An underhyped book that should become the next best thing

Dance of Cloaks

I feel like A Dance of Cloaks is not hyped up enough. Its a pretty solid high fantasy novel that not a lot of people are reading. So this is my invitation to you guys to go out and get yourself a copy. If you like assassins and general badassery, then you will love this book!

P.S. It’s also a six book series. You can thank me later!

Coat, Scarves and Mittens

Fall is the time to cover up – book that has an embarrassing cover that you would keep hidden in public

Original ToG

The original cover of Throne of Glass is hideous and would therefore need to be covered up from the general viewing of the public. Thankfully the publisher realized this and did a cover change that is better suited for what the novel embodies.

Can publishers just stop using cover models please. It’s not cute.

Pumpkin Spice

Favorite fall time comfort food/ drink?

For drink, I would have to say black tea. Preferably English Breakfast or Orange Pekoe.

For food it would have to be Korean Soon Tofu. Its hot and soup based and just perfect for cold brisk fall/winter days!

Well there you have it! I hope you feel all warm and cozy this fall season. Grab your drink of choice and a good book like I will and enjoy. It’s that simple!
