Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner, dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.
So now that you guys know what it’s all about, how about you join in the fun and hop on over to Josie’s Book Corner and check out how to do so~
It has been such a long and hectic week with work that I was having troubles keeping up with everyone. But the blogger I want to spotlight this week I’ve been following for quite a while now. It is none other then Syc @ The Lit Mermaid. If you haven’t already gone and followed her blog, then you HAVE to do it now!
First off her blog theme is so freaking cool! Way cooler then mine to be honest. She has stuck with her theme and it looks like alot of hard work went into creating it. She also does her own unique features on her blog such as:
The Mermaid’s Life
A Mermaid’s Tale
Cover – Once – Over
and so much more.
I enjoy coming back weekly to see her reviews, features, and other great posts! Keep up the good work Syc because I know you deserve all the love! ❤
The blog post that caught my eye the most this week is I Have Absolutely No Idea What I’m Doing… And That’s Okay! by Jenny from Jenny In Neverland.
This post speaks true to my life right now. I’ve always struggled with what I want to do with my life and where I see my life going. I have such big ambitious dreams with writing and publishing/editing, but I have nothing to show for it yet. I know I have a long ways to go before I have anything to be proud of and I know it’s going to take more than just hard work. I also know that I will get there one day, but in the mean time I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. I think it’s time to kick my life into gear and get a move on to start achieving these goals and dreams of mine. So that’s what I’m going to do in the coming months. Time to get off my ass and make something of myself. I want to be someone I am proud of and that others will be proud of too.
So if you haven’t checked out her post, I definitely recommend giving it a read. It’s quite inspiring actually!
Yes! It’s Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. I adore this book so much that there isn’t enough words to describe it. It was heart warming, gut wrenching, sad, hopeful, cute, funny, and amazing. It literally was EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING!
I have now become a fan of Nicola Yoon’s writing and story telling and look forward to seeing more from her in the future! All the links lead back to the GoodReads page if you live under a rock and have yet to hear about this amazing book.
Is it sad to say that the most exciting thing to happen to me this week was when I went book shopping yesterday? Well yeah it was. I had a coupon to use at Indigo Books that was going to expire soon and couldn’t wait to add some new books to my collection!
When I arrived I do what I always do first, I grabbed a drink from the Starbucks inside. After that I take a big breath of air and smell all the lovely new books in the air. My first destination is the New Arrivals wall, then to the 40% off Bestsellers wall to see if I can find a book I want at a good deal! Unfortunately there was nothing I didn’t already own, so I went to my first section: The Graphic Novels. As I browse and browse, nothing was popping out at me so I quickly ditched that section and bee-lined straight for the Young Adults area. After almost 30 minutes of browsing I walk up to the register with 4 new books and get a sweet deal of $10 bucks off.
All in all I’d say it was a pretty successful trip to the books store, and who knows, maybe there will be a haul coming your way soon. Because I know you’re dying to find out what I got!
A Novel Idea
A Novel Idea is the premier tool for plotting your story and recording bursts of inspiration. Use its simple interface to create your characters, locations, scenes, and novels and then link them together to create your story’s plot. Use the Idea feature to quickly jot down your creative sparks and link them to your story elements. Arrange your scenes by dragging and dropping them into place. Add scene goals and objectives for each character. Plus more!
As I want to actually start getting all this story ideas out of my head and onto something physical, I thought what a better way then to use this app! It has become very useful in story boarding and planning that I only have words of praise! So if you too want to get your novel ideas down, then I recommend you get this app!
This fun an addictive pop track off their 5th Album, Lion Heart was an insta-fav for me. A definite stand out track about a love that is like paradise and how being with each other compares to nothing else. I have been singing this song like mad this last week! Go check it out~
With there 3rd album coming out soon in the Fall, I can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. If it’s anything like their single Black Magic then I think it will be golden! With a fun addictive beat and cheeky lyrics about using black magic to get a boy to do whatever you want, what more can you ask for?
“Writing a great book doesn’t mean you’ll get published. Hard work does not always equal reward. And that’s a hard thing to realize.” – Justina Ireland @tehawesomersace
Well there ya have it guys! My first Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!
Until next time,
